Poetry inspired by The Doors

I am so excited to bring my friends and fellow Los Angeles Poets to the Hotel Erwin to present poetry inspired by The Doors. More specifically, we will be sharing poetry inspired by the photographs of Jim Coke! Jim captured The Doors performing in 1967 at Devonshire Downs in Northridge, CA! It's going to be a fun show filled with guests who knew Jim Morrison and Ray Manzarek, and it's such an honor to live this history with poets like Joan Jobe Smith, Fred Voss, Brenda Petrakos, Michael C. Ford, Stevie Kalinich, Juan Cardenas, and more! We are going to have an amazing time! OCTOBER 15th at The HOTEL ERWIN Hotel Erwin 1697 Pacific Ave, Venice, California 90291 8pm $5 entry

A film by Jim Morrison

One of Jim's films... definitely worth watching!

Jim Morrison in the Eyes of Family

This is a bonus feature to the When You're Strange DVD (so I hear)... very interesting to get this point of view since we never hear from the family often. I urge you to check it out. Admiral Morrison lived 37 years more than his son.

All I can think about...

My Wild Love went riding...he ride all the day...he left to the desert, and asked if he could stay... The desert is wild, he left for an hour, now that he's not returned, I have to wonder. Where did this wild love go? Transformed into sea or ocean breeze? I don't think he would have left to the desert, it's just not who he is.

Poetry by Jim Morrison

I wanted to share with you my favorite poem written by Jim Morrison. I love his poetry. Why do I drink? So that I can write poetry. Sometimes when it’s all spun out and all that is ugly recedes into a deep sleep There is an awakening and all that remains is true. As the body is ravaged the spirit grows stronger. Forgive me Father for I know what I do. I want to hear the last Poem of the last Poet. - Jim Morrison
